Giving Back To Our Community Through Mother's and Children In Crisis (MCC): A Holiday Gift
At BELL Home Team, we understand the profound impact that support and community collaboration can have on families facing challenges. Today, we want to shed light on Mother's and Children In Crisis (MCC), a not-for-profit organization dedicated to establishing a residential substance abuse treatment center for women and their young children in Onondaga County.
Onondaga County stands as the only major city in New York State without a residential facility for this critical purpose. Recognizing the immense need for a family housing facility, MCC envisions providing in-patient care to mothers while keeping their children with them, preserving family bonds, and fostering a supportive environment.
Currently, mothers seeking residential treatment often face the heart-wrenching decision of placing their children in foster care. This separation not only diminishes mother-child bonding but also obstructs the development of essential parenting skills. Residential centers like the one MCC aims to establish have proven to be effective in breaking the cycle of addiction.
MCC's vision goes beyond just providing treatment; it emphasizes building partnerships among the justice system, the community, government entities, and private foundations. Through these collaborations, the envisioned facility and its programs will offer recovering mothers and their children the necessary support and tools to become healthy, independent families.
As part of our commitment to supporting our community, BELL Home Team is proud to collaborate with MCC. We believe in their mission and, this winter, had the honor of contributing to their Annual Winter Clothing Giveaway. This initiative helped 90 children from 34 families prepare for winter by providing each child with a brand-new winter coat, sturdy boots, and knit hats, along with a grocery store gift card.
Our partnership extends beyond providing financial support. We are deeply invested in the well-being of our community, and the mission of MCC resonates with our values. We are honored to have contributed grocery store gift cards for the 34 participating families to this year's giveaway, and we look forward to staying connected with MCC to support their ongoing vision.
At BELL Home Team, we've been privileged to be part of this community as a locally owned business for the past 18 years, and we are committed to continuing our support for initiatives that make a positive impact. Together, let's empower recovery and foster a stronger, more resilient community.
